galvanic isolator

So I popped the breaker panel out to check if a galvanic isolator was installed OEM, and from what I can tell, there isn't anything back there. However, the wiring harness is wrapped tight and its hard to get the panel far out enough to tell.

Question being: If I installed one anyway, and there happens to be an existing galvanic isolator from the factory, will it cause any issues?

Re: galvanic isolator

You do NOT want two in series. Too much Voltage.
What Year/Make/Model is the Boat? They have been standard for quite a while.
Do you have a MerCathode system or equivalent?

Clip a few tie-Wraps to loosen up the panel.
Trace the Green Ground Wire, starting at the Shore Power Connector.
You will need to get in there to install the new one anyway.
You will likely want to place the new one in the same place the existing one would be, if it isn't already there.

Place an Ohm Meter between the Shore Power Ground Blade and an on board 120v Outlet Ground Pin.
If the meter indicates two pairs of Back to Back Diodes; You have an isolator. If a short, No Isolator.
