Galvanic reaction

I have a collapsible crab trap (flexfold) with 2, 3/8" steel cables. The cables are bent into a circle and clamped with 1/2" piece of steel tubing which is crimped (IMHO the piece should have been longer). One end of one of the cables slipped out and I can't get the darn thing back in. I have a piece of brass tubing that would do the trick but I'm worried about a reaction between the 2 types of metals.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance, Dave

Perhaps the moderator will bump this to different section (non-boating technical topics) for an answer.

Re: Galvanic reaction

Steel in SW is very active on it's own. Brass isn't going to make much of a difference one way or the other.
