Gamefisher 1.2 go no spark

Hello all. Just picked up the gamefisher 1.2… I’m new to outboards but not to small engines .cleaned up the pic-up and everything is clean. I can’t seem to get any spark.. possibly the condenser ? Not sure ..I see that the engine kill switch is the throttle stop by closing down the carb slide. So I ruled that out.. thanks

Is your spark plug clean?

It’s clean enough where I think it should spark. The motor is very nice shape . Piston crown still looks clean. I’m correct there is no electric kill switch ?

It has points and condenser have you checked them? Ohm your condenser and clean and re-set the points. You can get replacements at NAPA. No electric kill switch. Very simple motors. They were made in 1977-79

I forgot about them.rookie move. I cleaned and good spark now. Just gotta tackle the carb. Give it a day soaking and I should have it.. thanks for your help

The carb is the simplest one I have ever seen….a slide, a needle, a jet, a float….

Yep. Same as the carbs that go in the motorized bicycles I build. Except this is japan not China.lol last forever…this little beast fires right up now.. can’t wait to take out my little dingy and bass fish in the spring… cheers
