I have a mid 90's 9.9 Gamefisher (Force) behind an Achilles SPD112. This is a small 11 foot 2 inch inflatable. The motor has low hours, and starts and runs like a champ, but the boat doesn't plane. I don't know much about props, except what I read on the web. Does anybody know the pitch of the original plastic prop that came with this motor? I should go with a higher pitch, right? Michigan wheel has pretty good prices. How is their quality? How high should I go? All help is greatly appreciated, and I'll eat some abalone for you guys. Thanks.

Re: Gamefisher 9.9 prop?

Welcome to iboats. :)

I have an aunt in Vacaville. She must be 90 now and still sends all of us Birthday cards with handwritten letters. She was a church organist (as was my grandmother) for her whole life and still enjoys playing for the Home.

Michigan Wheel makes decent props. But It's strange the motor won't plane-off an inflatable. Does it have a rigid or soft bottom? Going with a higher pitch may be going the wrong way. If the motor isn't allowed to reach max RPM, it isn't reaching it's full horsepower. You might actually have to go down in pitch to get the revvs up. Going steeper may bog the motor more. Then again it might get you over the threshold onto plane. So I guess in the end, I'm of no help at all. Sorry. :(

What does Abalone taste like? Anything like clams or squid?

Abalone tastes closest to scallops. Flavor fit for a king. Thanks for the reply, and your aunt sounds like a great gal. Small world, huh? As far as the prop, I have no clue what the pitch of the original prop is, so I can only make a stab in the dark with a new one. I'm not sure it's worth it, since I plan to mount a Nissan 18 HP 4stroker pretty soon anyway. I just hoped to get a few more striper fishin trips out of this one.

Abber,I have the same motor on a 10ft Zodiac and it does take a while to plane, but once it does ,it takes off like a rocket. The Nylon 8.00x9.25 is the standard prop and is the fastest and hardest to plane.Nylon 8.00x8.25 is the optional. There are also Aluminum props available in sizes 8.25x4.5 , 8.00x9.00 ,8.125x8.75 2 blade,8.25x6.00,8.375x6.00.... you can get this info from www.sears.com/partsdirect . The Gamefisher is the same motor. You may need a serial# to retrieve this info.If yours does not work ,post back and I will get you mine.Charlie

Re: Gamefisher 9.9 prop?

One last question....Would going down just one inch in pitch make a significant difference? I can go from 9 1/4" down to 8 1/4", or the next jump, which would be 6". The 8 1/4" is what Force put onto this size motor, but for some reason, Sears offered it stock with the 9 1/4". I don't want to buy more than one prop, so I will listen to anyone's opinion about which way to go on this. Thank you in advance.

Re: Gamefisher 9.9 prop?

Well, I got a prop with a 6 inch pitch, but I guess I went too low. When I hit the throttle, it wants to jump out of the water, but it still will not plane the boat. I have thrown in the towel on this piece of junk. I bought a Nissan 18 horse 4 stroker. The Gamefisher is going to be dumped into the landfill, I think.

Sell it on eBay. Much better than dumping it. Or just send it to me. I'll always take a free outboard.
