Gamefisher Model 225587504 5 hp serial#8869

From what I've read here this motor was made my Merc.

I've owned this motor a short while and have never had it running for more than 10 seconds or so. It looks like it has seen little or no use.

It's difficult to get it started in a barrel and when it does start it only runs for a few seconds then dies. Seems to have good spark.

I've had the carb apart and it looks real clean. I've air blown out the small passageways and re-sembled......still acts the same way.

I would like to get a service manual for this motor if it's available.

Just wanted to add that I've got the parts diagram from Sears and this motor has a tillotson #71206 carb.

Mercury marine did build it, but I'll bet it's a Force engine. Do you have any pictures?? and/or a serial #?

Thanks for the info Gerry. I was hoping it was made by Merc!

Any idea where I could find a service manual?

I think there may be a problem with the float valve as when I pump the fuel tank bulb the bulb does not get hard......just keeps on pumping.
