Re: gamefisher motor?

Gamefisher is the brand name that Sears uses for the engines they have made by third parties.

They are pretty much bottom feeders as outboards go.

If you are looking for a low hp cheap outboard, you'd be crazy not to focus strictly on OMC products. I'd rather use an electric trolling motor than to trust a gamefisher to get me home. Have the owner crank up the gamefisher and let you hear it run. Then listen to the same hp OMC outboard and see if you can tell the difference. I'll bet you can.

Need to know what model you'r looking at to give any advice. I think some of the newer ones were Merc, but for the most part there all lawnmowers with a prop. Loud, unreliable, and slow. That's MHO.

The best Gamefishers were rebadged Chryslers. And since you can't get parts for those anymore I'd say avoid any Gamefisher.

For the most part the Gamefisher outboard builders have been out of business for some time some over 40 years. The major brand Gamefishers were ok but now parts, while available, are hard to find and can be expensive. The Eska built gamefishers are heart breakers not running the same 2 days in a row.The person who loves their Eska built Ganmefisher(217 prefix) is decidely the exception. The small OMC /Gale motors 3,5,5.5,6 7.5,10,15,18,20 Have a vast supply of new and used parts available from dozens of vendors and BRP dealers nation wide.
They are easy to work on,smooth, reasonably quiet and depenable.
