gamefisher no spark

I have a 15 hp gamefisher model # 225.581501, serial # 6645. I let an uncle borrow the boat, it came back and cannot get any spark out of either plug. Any suggestions? I find it hard to believe that both coils went bad. Also what year is this motor and who made it, Mercury? Thanks.

It is a 1989, made by Force. Mercury owned Force, so I guess you could say that. Actually, Force was the old Chrysler brand.

I have no idea why it lost spark. Sheared flywheel key???

It may have a kill switch.Don't know if it has one but check for a switch on end of tiller.There may be a button that is supposed to
have a key of sorts to hold it open to operate the motor.Kill switch is open to run closed to stop.
