Hi iboats community,

I recently rebuilt my water pump, and I'm having problems with getting the housing to sit flush with the plate. The motor is a 1987 90 HP Johnson outboard (88 SPL). I've attached a picture of it. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong? The housing looks like it's uneven but it's pretty identical to the old one. I made sure to replace all of the O-rings within the housing. Thanks for the help.

The plate or the hsg looks wrapped. Also looks like an o-ring under the hsg where the bolt is.

In total agreement with Boobie.... something is under the housing at that bolt location.

I inspected the other housing and they both have attached plastic washers to both housings at those bolt locations for whatever reason. I pulled the housing and O-rings. I'm going to clean up the old housing and try it tomorrow. Thanks for the input, hopefully I can get it to work!
