OK , I have a Garmin 240 at the console of my bass boat, want to install one at the bow . But when comparing the 240 to the 250 I find the 250 has more features than the 240 for very little money more , which begs the question , why does Garmin maintain the 240 in the line ? Does it have some operating feature which endears it to owners over the 250 ? And the 250 says transducer suitable for trolling motor or transom . Some vendors say 240 transom only , but a couple now list the 240 as the standard supplied transducer as being dual purpose ?

I think the 240 has now been discontinued. It was replaced by the 250. The special pricing on 240 are probably to clear remaining inventory. They are both good. I like the backlighting on the 250 better.

Re: Garmin 240 or 250

I have a question on the 240/250. I am thinking of doing the same thing...adding a bow unit. Are the cables interchangable for these 2 uints? Can I move my 240 to the front and the 250 to the console and use the already installed wiring for the 240 for the 250? Does that make sense??

Thanks
Glen

Funny I was looking into this set up as well. What I want to know is if they make a pigtail so I can run both fishfinders off of the same transducer. Is that something that is commonly done?

SeaRun1
