i have a garmin fishfinder model 160, and now the background illumination is staying lit up the whole time my fish finder is on. it use to not stay on all the time until you turned the light on with the button. is there a setting somewhere to set this or is the fishfinder defective? everything else works fine.

Re: garmin fish finder help

Do you have the 160 or the 160C?

If the 160 I believe page 23 of the manual will help you. :)

Did you try searching the pdf for "back light" or just "light"? That usually works pretty well :)

Did you go to the garmin site and see how to do a factory reset for your unit?

Sometimes the page number in the .pdf is different from the number that is actually printed on the page. Look at the page number on the page itself not the program's page counter. Or, like Larry said, do a search or just look in the table of contents.
