Garmin Striker shutting down

My Garmin Striker has started shutting down every time I start my boat. Before this it would warn low voltage momentarily but not shut down. I'm assuming this happens because the voltage goes too low now. The battery starts the motor fine. Does this mean my battery is getting too old? It's about 4 years old, deep cycle. How could I test the battery?

Yes, that’s your problem.
Take it somewhere to be load tested

Use a multimeter to follow your voltage to the MFD. You likely have a bad connection(s) somewhere.

Most boaters use INE battery for starting purpose only, then another deep cycle as a house battery to run everything else. This way you always have starting power. Unless the motor is fairly small, the heavy draw of starting can shorten the life of a deep cycle battery.

Measure the voltage at the unit or at the fuse panel while starting the motor. I agree with the above, your battery is running low.
