Hey guys, as usual it's my 1972 125hp johnson, I was running it in the driveway the other day and noticed that was drips of what looked like my fuel or just the oil from the fuel coming out of the the top of the exhaust housing and leaking down the leg. The housing under the block has a cover that bolts around the base of the block (on the exterior of the motor of course) as well as over the top of the exhaust housing, that's where it was dripping from, as well there was alot of old gunk coming off the inside walls of the exhaust housing. What would cause this thing to be leaking like this? Is it the carbs to rich or lean or what? thanks.

Dripping from the motor cover cowling has to be a leaky hose or gasket or something. Needs to be fixed, it is a fire hazard. But we can't tell you specifically where it is coming from because we can't see it.

Dripping from inside the exhaust housing is normal and no fix required. You put oil in the gas and it goes through the engine with the gas. Most is burned (smoke) and the rest goes out the exhaust. That is what you are seeing. It will be far less noticeable when you get the boat in the water.

I cleaned everything, and fired it up. I can't see where the gas is coming from. It's not my fuel lines, or any visible seals, it just starts to slowly drip from under the coweling on the outside under the block. there is a cover there with four screws but they're on stuck in there pretty good, I think if I can possibly get that cover off it may point to something internal? Is that even remotely possible to have a leak from the inside?
