I have a small amount of gas coming from my 4 stroke 50 hp mercury outboard. It shows gas floating in the water. What could be the problem?

I'd start looking around the engine proper for signs of wetness, then wipe and smell to ensure its gas and go from there. You didn't give the age of your engine. If old, leaking rubber is usually the problem. I'm a carb. guy so I don't know what else could be suspect in the differences between your engine and my carb.'d experience.

The engine is 2008 50 hp bigfoot. Gas will appear on the water after running it in the lake. It starts up quick and runs great. Just shows gas floating around the engine when we stop.

If it is gas, on an EFI it could be the MAP sensor (controls A/F ratio) or a leaking injector(s)
