Never had a boat with a built in gas tank before. Could it be coming from the sending unit in the tank. Thanks for the help

Re: Gas fumes

I have the same boat but its a 2004 model. It periodically will waft a little fuel odor. The tank vent is aimed at the splash well so any movement of the boat may allow some odor out the vent. You probably don't have any leaks. Gas fumes settle to the lowest point in the boat which is why the back compartments are vented. Mine has a mesh panel in the vertical panel at the stern. I think you'll find the odor will disappear if you leave the compartment covers open when stored. Mine is inside so weather is not a problem. The musty smell of a closed compartment seems to accentuate any fuel odor. Wouldn't hurt to check the sender or even check for a leak though but I don't think you'll find one. If there was a leak you'd have fuel in the bilge.
