Gas Gauge moving backwards help!

The gas gauge in my boat all of a sudden is pinned all the way to the left. I replaced the gauge the same thing still happens.<br /><br />Can this be a sending unit problem

Sender or shorting wire.Dont leave it hooked up or it'll stuff the new gauge

Sending units go bad far more than gauges. It is also possible that a wire came loose at the sending unit or somewhere in it's run has been cut.

bad grounds can cause that. Run a temporary one to try....

magtec,<br /> Did you ever find out what this problem was? I'm asking because my friends boat is doing the same exact thing and I just noticed it. When he turns the key to "ON", the gas gauge will actually move more towards "empty" if that's possible :) <br /><br />Thanks in advance.
