Re: Gas in crankcase

New gasket with new carb. Only "vaccum" line is from fuel pump. I guess that's an overflow. New plugs. Gas in oil was due to wrong fuel pump. Carb & Fuel pump are marine. Like ReelPoor said, the carb is'nt flooding, it's starving for gas. I did'nt notice it sucking air anywhere but through the top.
Thanks for the suggestions. I'll report back after I get the new carb back.

Re: Gas in crankcase

New carb arrived today. I'll be putting it on this afternoon and will report back in the morning. Let's keep our fingers crossed.
Any tips on installation?

Re: Gas in crankcase

Put the new carb on and she's running nice and smooth. Have'nt had a chance to put her on the water yet but I plan on doing that this weekend. It seems the first carb they sent me was a bad one. I probably did'nt need the new fuel pump either but now at least I don't have to wonder if my fuel pump is OK because I have a brand new one.
Thanks for everyone's help! This forum is great!

What's the proper way to adjust a four barrel quadra-jet?
I tinkered with the adjustment screws until it was idleing smoooth. Do I need to do anything else?
Thanks!

Re: Gas in crankcase

Gary, the carb came from I-5 Automotive in Moreno Valley, CA. Even though the first one was deffective, they made good by sending me another one.
Thanks for the tip, Reel Poor. I'll do just that this weekend. I'm anxious to see how she does on the top end.:|

Re: Gas in crankcase

Made the maiden voyage this past weekend. New carb is performing well except for a bit of an occasional "sputter" when running at WOT. Also have a slight "bog" when coming out of the hole. I think made I need to adjust the mixture a bit. Overall I'm pleased...I got my top end speed back and it is coming up on plane much better. I just need to get the fine tuning dialed in.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
