I have a OMC 4.3 with the holley 2bbl. I had the boat out in March and it ran good. Then it sat till this past weekend. On land it was hard to start and would only run at high RPMs. It stalled at 1500 and below. I noticed a leak on the float body so I rebuilt the carb. it still ran rough so I took it out to try to burn off the old gas that I was sure was the problem. Not only would it still not idle but it wouldnt go over 2500 rpm under a load. I ran it about 1 hour total with the new carb. Upon checking the oil, I noticed it was over filled. I pumped it out and got almost 2 gallons of gas/oil mixture out. After thinking about the worst I decided that it shouldnt be and internal engine problem. So I replaced the plugs, cap, rotor, new oil and started it on land. Same problems. The carb seems to be dumping too much fuel into the intake and it just will not idle. I think that fuel is flooding the cyliders to the point that gas is being pushed past the rings. Next weekend Im gonna look at the carb again because I probably screwed up the rebuild but can anyone come up with any other possibilites? thanks -Las Vegas Patriot
