Gas in my Oil

5.0 Mercruiser, Alpha One, 2 Barrel Carb. I had some starting issues this past fall. I had my carb rebuilt to no avail. I winterized the bought the best I could because I tore some cartlidge in my knee which put me out of commision for a month. I brought the boat home last weekend to change motor oil and it smells like gas? I searched the previous threads and can only find (water in oil) threads.
Is there anything I should check? I did purchase a new fuel pump and reman carb.
1. Put 1 qt. diesel and 4 qt. oil run replace? Does this sound right?

The 5.0L engines where around for a lot of years. What year is yours??????

If a mechanical fuel pump, I would suspect the diaphram is damaged and leaking gas into the oil pan.
Change the pump, oil and filter. Then keep an eye on it for a while.

Yea, about a 99% chance the fuel pump is bad.

Ayuh,.....

And,... There's No Reason for flushing with Diesel,.....
The extra Gas is solvent enough......
