gas in oil

1987 omc 350 has gas smell in oil... everything seems to operating fine just has the smell of gas in the oil even after 2 oil changes.. what could be the cause??

First stop the mechanical fuel pump. If the diaphragm goes bad you can get gas in to the oil.

How's the compression? Blow by could cause this. Not an omc guy though. Ruptured diaphram in the fuel pump?....JK

SBC is an SBC, no matter Merc or OMC. Check the vent line going from the fuel pump to the carburator for signs of fuel. Fuel in that line confirms a bladder rupture and replacement of the fuel pump.

I've seen Worse........<br /><br />I think the Fuel Pump just might be your Issue,.......<br /><br />If Not,.... The Carb. has got to be the Problem........

THE PUMP, KaGee told u how. THE CARB, rebuild it.if that does not work and u still have the gas smell.see your michanic ASAP .Ive walked that way ,now im rebuilding the engine and a new engine block.look for MAN-OF-WAR on this site and enjoy.......

Heed Man of Wars warnings. He is living the nighmare of running the engine with gas in the oil, one of the worst things that can happen to an engine as well as one of the most dangerous. Find the source and fix it as quick as possible and dont run it.
