Gas leak in my Evinrude outboard

My main problem is that I have a gas leak in my evinrude 25hp outboard. Unfortunately, I don't know what year the motor is, so I can't buy a book to find out exactly what part is leaking.<br />Model: 25552B Serial: E0002284 HP: 25 What year?<br /><br />The leak is coming from what appears to be a filter which is bolted to the block. The main fuel line comes directly into this unit, which is about 2inches across, square in shape, and has a couple gaskets in it. From there another line goes to the carburetor. What is this part, what is it called, and 'bout how much is it going to cost me?

The part you're describing is actually the filter and is easy to service. Unscrew thw nut, pull the plastic part back and you'll see the fine mesh screen that acts as a filter. My guess is that you need a new gasket or that the screw has been over-tightened and the plastic cracked. Everything about this is relatively cheap {price and construction}.

Don't know what happened aboe. ??? Write to Evinrude customer service for year and manual. Maybe Bombardier is maintaining this function. Good luck.

Well, as far as I can tell from that site it's a 1975. Could you check me on that, cuz my German isn't very good to say the least. Ich spreche deutsch nicht zehr gut.
