Gas leaking from Carb

I have a 40hp 2005 Johnson. Last week I hit the wake of another boat pretty hard at about 25mph and ever since my motor is not running properly. Starts then dies very shortly after. After inspection I noticed fuel leaking from one of the carbs (the lower one) while pumping the primer bulb. I have not been able to take the carb off/apart yet but I'm hoping it is just a torn gasket or something easy. Has anyone ever experienced this? Does anyone have any ideas of something else it may be causing the fuel to leak? I didn't think hitting a hard wave should cause motor problems but maybe I'm wrong?

I don't remember the years or models that were affected, but if the carb is black plastic, the bowl may be warped. Dealing with that now on my boat.

Dang. Yeah the carb does have black plastic on the top... Does the entire thing have to be replaced? Is it like a Johnson recall that they are fixing or is everything out of pocket?

Actually, if your engine is a 2005 you probably did not have that problem. I think it was more in the late 80's/early 90's models. If your float bowl is aluminum it may not be the same issue.

Could be a gasket, could be the float valve, just take it apart and clean it.
