I have a 19 foot wellcraft with a 3.7 mercruiser I/O I was wondering what kind of gas mileage can I expect to get, like how many miles per gallon running at say 3-4K rpm
basically cruising speed. Gas gauge is broke just got the boat and didnt replace gauge and or sending unit yet but the walleye are biting and I want to get out. Thanks dudes

Fantastic economy. I have never measured mpg but there is a sweet spot about 3400 rpms on mine where it goes all day and the next day too.(I do have a 50 gal tank!)

Great motor if you keep it up to date and stay ontop of the known problems...cam seals, waterpump leaks, electrical and exhaust.

Bob

The 3.7 mercruiser, otherwise known as the 470 Merc has a reputation of being a problem engine because of the earlier version 3 inch heat exchanger that overheated, the internal stator electrical system that would go bad and the camshaft seals that eventually leak and are a royal pain to replace. (I just did mine)

BUT, when that powerhouse of a 4 cylinder is running right, she runs and runs and is one of the most fuel efficent engines out there. Good luck with yours !!!

My 3.0 L 140 HP in the ocean swells and wind gets about 3.3 MPH on a 21 foot closed bow Aluminum runabout at 2500 to 3000 RPMs. Most I run with on the trip out 25 miles or 60 miles round trip will use more. I always end up useing 18 gallons or very close to that.
