GAS & OIL MIX for 1966 40 HP evinrude

Just got the motor,changed out all gas lines & overhualed the Carb.Runs very good on regular 50:1<br />But don't want ta hurt it.What should I use?<br /> Thanks<br /> :)

50:1 is the right mixture

I would run her at 32 to one, Joe Reeves has made the point that he believes old motors are still around cause they had a good supply of oil<br /><br />and lets put it this way ...<br /><br />Unless Joe Reeves says otherwise, only a finger of fire from the sky scribing in stone will convince me that it just aint so!<br /><br /> :cool:

By 1966 Evinrude was recommending 50:1 in their line-up, so chances are that motor as always run around 50:1... Joe usually goes by the book - '64 and later for OMCs... (and I usually make the exception for the little 2 & 4-hp motors as they used bronze bearings on a lot of their moving parts right up into the 1980s).<br />- Scott

Thanks to all that has replyed.Its a great help.<br /><br />Now I am going to start on my 1957 --12 hp evinrude.All it needs is a kit in the carb,& i received it today.Then I'll try 7 restore the paint & decals on her.<br />Thanks Agian<br /> Monroe
