It is not the gas that is bad and it is not the additive that is bad. Problems have not developed with automobiles.
In a marine environment where dampness is present and the fuel usually is not used in a short period of time, the COMBINATION of the two additives can form a gel or a grainy substance that will clog fuel filters, fuel pumps, and carbs.
Until the gasoline companies phase out MBTE (or whatever it's called) and all go to ethanol as an additive, the prevention is to buy the same brand gasoline if at all possible.
