Re: gas smell from pro crappie

Every now and then I've smelled gas fumes from my 2005 Pro Guide V-16. Haven't pin pointed from where and it hasn't been a real strong smell. Possibly from the engine?

As far as I know and have read, the tank is a sealed unit and not vented in any way, especially not into the bilge/battery compartment area! Have you seen any sign of gas in the bilge? I don't know how your boat is set up, mine has an access port you unscrew to get to the bilge area/transom plug. I can unscrew the cap and look into that area.
Perhaps there is a way to pressure test the system to see if there is a leak? A dealer would probably know that. I've only had my Tracker since June so I'm still learning things about it.

Check the hose clamps on the fill hose and the gasket around the fuel sending unit. Also check your fuel line going to the motor for a loose clamp or cracks. There is a thru deck fitting that the fuel line is connected through on the way up to the motor. Check that under neath too. Stick your hand under there and feel it and smell your hand for gas.
