Re: Gas Smell In Oil ?

If you do have an electric pump, then you need to make sure it is wired so that it only runs while starting and while the engine is running. See the diagram below. The electric fuel pump is #7 and you also need an oil pressure switch #8.

Re: Gas Smell In Oil ?

OK now I believe I am getting closer to figuring this out THANKS to EVERYONES HELP. Every one bear with me some more , I do not know the histry of the boat , it is + starting to make sense now . This is the boat engine serial number(GM6269732) Question:I did know it was a mercarb carberator , I looked up the carb on the net (EBAY). They said that the carb came off a 1984 Searay mercruiser 4 cylinder 140 engine...This is the same carb I have on our boat , they say it fits mcm120 or mcm140.. DID THEY PUT THE WRONG CARB ON THE ENGINE ??? i HAVE A 6 CYL. can any one pleeeaaase tell me what carb I should have on my engine..that explains why there is a 3" yellow/clear hose coming out of the back of it , Pics show it too..(the hose. Our boat is a 91 bayliner capri 2050cx. 4.3L ENGINE SER.# GM6269732.here are the carb pics (WRONG CARB???) THANKS SO MUCH FOR ALL YOUR INPUT & YOUR TIME> PAT/I]

find your engine here.. it will give you full parts diagrams including carb.. www.stemtostern.com.. but i couldnt find your serial number on here either.. and your engine manual should have a list of carbs that match up...

Re: Gas Smell In Oil ?

Thats not a good number either. It has the correct number of characters but the last two characters should be digits. Example: OK123456. If the "OK" part of your serial number is right, and it is 4.3 liter V-6, then the engine fall in line as a 4.3LX (GEN +) (2 BBL.) GM 262 V-6 1996-1997 or 4.3LXH (GEN +) (4 BBL.) GM 262 V-6 1996-1997.

Check your number one more time, your getting close.

Re: Gas Smell In Oil ?

Ok , I believe I have the right engine Ser.# OK0478CD now this I looked on my regisration *MOTOR DESCRIPTION* SO I HOPE THIS IS RIGHT !! I looked all over the internet for engines with that # couldn't find any ,Is there a site that I could try to match it up ?? The book I have doesn,t give good refrence at all, pics don't match , always showing other engines for what I need to do. It gets frustrating , Even the cooling systems doesn't show my engine even though it says for 91 mercruiser/sterdrive manual,QUITE FRUSTRATING AT TIME:confused::eek::confused:

YES,YES,YES:D:D:D, THANK YOU ALL SOOO MUCH . YOU ALL DID IT !!!!! I knew you all could help , I tried and tried to find it , all I kept running in to was dark deary clouds..You all made the sun shine again..Alright !! The engine is a 4.3L (2BBL) GM 262 V6 1988-92 with a Mercarb (175-4.3L)...I looked at the cooling systym, carb, everything is exactly it. As far as the manual goes (seloc) It will be our paper for starting our camp fire when we go camping this year:D. I so much appreciate all your HELP and TIME to help me. Every one hit it right on the head. The one thing I see is for the engine (1988-92) the ser# start with OB-OD,on my regisration shows (OK) I think some one goofed the registration. The engine was eigther rebuild or might be another because the whole engine has been repainted top to bottem, the only way they could have painted the whole engine the way they did was with it out. and looks like alot of new parts,(motor mounts, starter, etc,,) She runs great !! I do everything I can to take care of her(winterized) just put on plugs, oil, filter, alot of babying etc..I don't know everything but I am having alot of fun learning and am listening and following all your advice.....THANK YOU ALL SOOOO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP,TIME,AND ADVICE. I am definitly 100% an IBOATS member I do have more Questions but I will post them on new threads THANK YOU ALL!!!!!! PAT (WAVEN' BYE) Thanks you too!! :D
