gas tank hookup

on the gas tank, there are 2 wires, one goes to the s connection on the gas gauge and the other one goes to the ground. <br />one wire is connected to a middle and elevated screw on gas tank in middle of round plate and the other wire is connected to the plate on gas tank. <br /><br />which one goes to the s connection and which one goes to the ground?<br /><br />what would happen if you accidentally swith this?<br />will gas gauge work for a couple of minutes and then go out or will it not go on in the first place?

Turn the key to the ON position. Touch each wire, one at a time, to ground. Watch the Gauge and when it jumps to FULL, you have found the Sender wire and the other is the ground wire.
