Good morning. I just cleaned out the gas tank on my recently purchased 1966 Evinrude Sportsman 150 (with a GM V6 engine). I was hoping there would be markings on the tank indicating the size/capacity of it. Does anyone know the capacity of this gas tank (this is the original gas tank that came with the boat).

Last question - what is the type and weight of the engine oil I should run with this engine. I'm guessing 30wt is what should be used (the engine only has 78 hours on it). I purchased this boat from an estate and could not get any additional info on it.

Thanks in advance!

Before you launch this boat you will need to install a new waterpump impeller in the outdrive.------If it has sat for many years the impeller will be cracked from age.------New oil in the electric shift lower unit should be TYPE-C for electric shift.------Upper gear box may well ne the weak point of this system and change the oil there too.

Use 30 wt oil for the motor. See if you can find a factory service manual for it.

Welcome to iBoats.

Boobie & racerone got you on the mechanical side.

For the tank - (Length, inches X Width, inches X Height, inches) / 231 = Gallons. So you are calculating the volume in cubic inches and dividing by the number of cubic inches in a gallon.

I'd run 15w40 or 10w30 in it if it were me so oil would flow better on cold starts
