Gas tank intake question - slow fill / foaming

Hello,
So I was having the 'slow gas fill/foaming up' issue and I searched around and found info on exhaust vent/hose issues. Sure enough my exhaust hose went up from the tank then down under a bunch of other stuff and then up to the vent. I straightened it (which expelled the gas that had collected in the bottom of the hose everywhere) and ran it on a gradual incline to the vent so no gas can now pool in the hose preventing ventilation during tank filling.

My question is - should the gas intake tube be bent? Check out the picture (the thick pipe with multiple hose clamps) - will this prevent the gas from flowing fast into the tank?
I haven't had a chance to fill the tank since I fixed the exhaust tube and I'd like to get everything in order before a trip this weekend so I don't spend an hour (no exaggeration) slowly filling up my tank.
Thanks

I filled up the tank for the first time after making the exhaust hose fix and was able to fill the tank up really quickly without foaming. I couldn't fill it as fast as a car tank but it filled much, much fast than when the vent tube had a dip in it.

"I have read"
Most of the guys that have this issue try and do a loop in the breather/vent hose vertical.

This way water will not go into the tank or let gas out on hard cornering, gas expansion ETC

Later if it gets hard to fill you either have a kink in the breather hose or have picked up something thats plugging it IE water.

I didn't even consider the possibility of water getting in the tank which would be alot easier now that the hose goes on a slight upward angle from the tank to the vent. hmm - might have to re-think this one
