Gas tank repair options ~ suggestions

I was cleaning out the portable tank from a small E/rude O/B....had some water and dirt in it.
When I tried to unthread the fuel outlet, the "mounting plate" separated from the tank.....I guess it was welded and the weld let go.

Any suggestions on repair options i.e. is welding the only sensible option (NOT a DIY) or are there any miracle compounds that would "glue " this back together?
