Re: Gas

You know, 5 gallon cans are not a bad idea. I never thought of using them. I think I'll start filling up that way from now. Thanks.

Re: Gas

Looking down the barrels you will see a round venturi in the center of each. If gas is dribbling out vs misting, you probably have an issue. You may also see it collecting on top of the butterflies. Misting droplets on the butterflies is normal. Puddling is bad. When it starts to get worse, it will flood out the engine at idle.

I do the gas can method as well. Don't know if it is a NY thing or Federal, but here all new gas cans have special anti-spill nozzles, that are a major PITA. It would be extremely hard to fill from one of those. You can change the nozzle, but there is not a air inlet plug. I hate them! I have an old 6gal plastic gas container with a tappered nozzle. I attach a 6' clear thick plastic hose to it that just fits into the tank inlet.

Re: Gas

Oh please Lord no. I hate the those. I might retrofit a 5 gal paint bucket with a hose rather before that. It seems like the gas cans of 20 years ago were perfect and each passing year, they tend to suck more. So much for advances in engineering.

Those new cans suck. Just don't get caught refuelling your boat in the water with gas cans (illegal). Very stiff fines (even tho you'll spill less than the marina pump/nozzle). I wait till dark to refill my jetski by my boat w/ a can.
That & with a 110 gal. tank on my boat it would take a few cans :D
