Re: gasket between PH and mid-section
BLACK, BLUE, WHITE, CLEAR--I use whatever I have on hand. Its not a critical application. There is no real heat or exhaust or water pressure against it. Just be sure to use a light coat and spread it by finger before lowering the powerhead and adapter plate onto it--otherwise it spreads out all over the place and can seal up some of the water passages in the adapter plate. I also use a light coating on the rubber water tube seal to ensure it has a good contact with the adapter plate boss. Again--LIGHT COAT is the operative word. You don't want to squeeze a gob of it into the water tube.
Word of caution: Get help to lower the powerhead. Because of the location of the flange on the exhaust tube bolted to the adapter plate, and because of the location of the water tube, you must tilt and rock the powerhead into position for about the first 4 or 5 inches. after that, it will just slide down with the studs entering theis holes. Also, there is supposed to be a foam washer below the flange. Not critical if you don't have it but if you are a stickler for proper parts, then get one.
