Gaskets...to seal or not?

I'm replacing the head and exhaust cover gaskets on my '88 8hp Johnny. When I disassembled them, neither one had sealant with the gaskets. Should I use sealant (rtv,etc.) with the new gaskets or not? Thanks! Seamule

I would use Sealer 1000 on the exhaust cover and none on the head gasket.

I wouldn't use any type of sealant with those particular gaskets, especially RTV.
