Does anyone have experience with using Valvtect in there boats powered with gasoline. Keep reading about it and with the new formulations in gasdoline would it be wise to consider using it. I have a part of 454 Merc inboards and hold 260 gals when full. Appreciate your inputs

I use alcohol for water in gas & cen-pe-co make's gas-0-cleanser it acts like a booster, but clean's carb,fuel-injection and condition up end of motor plus i run at lest pint of twocycle oil to five gallon's of gas or half that with oil injection

like the merk dealer said when you open this thing up you better had buckle up your seat belt after these jet's are in,O it's going to run! I'm in truble i don't have seat belt's in my boat.

Re: Gasoline Additives

Why do you think you even need additives? Are you buying good gas? Do you fill after returning home?
Is engine performance less than what you think it should be?

I would be careful for those of you who use alcohol (ethanol) in your fuel if you have a fiberglass fuel tank. There is a report about how older fiberglass tanks react with it and can cause severe engine damage and can also damage the fuel tank leading to leaks and possible explosion. One problem is that many boats require at least mid grade fuel and much of the mid grade fuel on the market contains ethanol. Many refining companies are not taking the time to make sure ethanol concentrations are 10% (which is still damaging) and testing has shown that very high concentrations of ethanol are being found on the market, which makes the effect on the older fiberglass tanks even worse. Ethanol also dissolves sludge to a liquid form, which if you have an old tank with lots of sludge can reek havoc on your fuel system.

http://www.boatus.com/news/releases/2005/october/alert.asp

Most marinas near me have valvtec already added to the gas at the pump.It is more of a lead substitute than a cleaner. It suggests that with regular use it will keep things clean.

We're not talking about your 6 gallon Johnny-Rude tanks here. My fuel tank is 90 gallons. There is no way I'm gonna burn that up quickly. Pri-G stabilizes the fuel for storage, aids in removing water, makes older fuel burn, helps to prevent things from varnishing up. I do not use it for any supposed added performance benefits. For me it's about maintenance.

I run 4oz/6 gal of two cycle oil in my Mercruiser V6. I expect it keeps the rust down on inside of the intake manifold, and might even add some lubrication to the internal moving parts of the carb. it might even help protect part of the exhaust riser.
