Gasoline leaking from vent

I recently bought a 94 Bayliner Capri, and several times I have noticed fuel leaking out of the vent. I live in Texas, just north of Houston, so its warmer here than most places. I figure this has to do with the gas heating up and expanding, causing it to come out the vent. But it has done this even when the tank is not completely full. The boat sits in my driveway, at an angle. It sits so the front of the boat is tilted down. The angle is not too extreme, probably a 5-6% grade, thats with it jacked up all the way.

Any ideas?

if the bow is tilted down you can have an air pocket in the rear of the tank and gas in the vent. Most vents are in the front b/c boats sit lower in the stern. Raise the bow. That also lets it drain.
If you vent is outside the hull, down low, you have a risk of shipping water in it.

As a side note, unless you want rotted floors, raise the bow so no water sits in there. IT WILL ROT YOUR STRINGERS.

I agree with the comment about getting the bow up so you don't rot your boat - water is just going to pool under the floor.

As for the leaky gas, I installed an anti-siphon valve in my vent hose to help keep gas from splashing out of the vent when filling & trailering with a full tank. It installs in-line on your vent hose and only cost me about $15. iBoats would have a few options if you searched.
