Re: Gasoline Prices

Ken, I believe that Exxon is also a gasoline company. I think a close look will show they own over 90% of the Exxon stations in this country.

Kagee,
Thank you for confirming my hijack (like it wasn't obvious already). My "union talking points" weren't directly related to gas prices, but to my challenge that this is the best economy since reagan.

But as for gas prices, they are still falling here in Northern Michigan. Adn the latest poll results I've heard and read show that fuel prices are no longer as much of a sore point with people and that those sheople are now not as upset with the redumblicans. So the decline in gas prices are helping the red party. Is that clear enough to understand? GWB and the redumblicans may not control fuel prices, but they certainly are benefiting from those who do. Benefiting from those who desire a continuing rape of the American people, the environment, our rights, and the Constituion. There is your connection. And it is grotesque.

demsvmejm, you would be alot easier to understand if you didn't use all of that "redumblicans, sheople, and red party" phyco-babble (see, I can do it too 8)

Sounds like you are an environmentalist... do you drive a car?... live in a "stick built" house?... eat food bought from a store?... If you answer yes to all of the above you too are helping "RAPE THE ENVIRONMENT"

As for the American people, the Constitution, and our Rights...... Baaaaaa, why do I bother.

Re: Gasoline Prices

demsvmejm,

First as a traveler of Michigan I know exactly where you are coming from. Anyone who lives in Michigan now knows what an extreme recession or maybe even a depression looks like. Unfortuantely you need to understand that big business makes money serving the little man. Big business doesn't win serving the minority they make money serving the masses. See Walmart. As some say, the rich get richer and the poor get more populous - not exactly. What we call poor in this country would be upper middle class in most parts of the world. Unfortunately, manufacturing in this country is all but dead. Unions hurt, but mechanization and the lower required skills to operate machinery makes less qualified workers acceptable to accomplish what once took a craftsman to accomplish. These jobs are now in Mexico, (theft, political bs) or Asia. Unregulated immigration has hurt as well, devalueing the importance of the American workers contributions.

The red/blue state arguement didn't hold water. Clinton signed NAFTA. Democrats have done everything to stonewall meaningful immigration legislation, and the Republicans haven't exactly run to close the boarder. What exactly would you do if they didn't take the oil out of the ground? What would it change in the environment? Extraction is rather clean and the only downside is storage of refined oil or spills which are not all that common, in fact the greatest oil polluter is mother nature, as millions of gallons of oil leak out of the ground into the oceans.

We now have more trees in this country than when Washington was president. Environmental agruements are unjustified when you look at what Mexico, China, all of asia for that matter, have done to the environment? Have you been to Paris, dog doo everywhere.

Our country was based on free enterprise. Like it or not. And it has been responsible for the strongest economy the world has ever seen. It is all about exploitation of resources, labor, intellectual property. Our system as it is today is uniquely American. And consistant with the constitution. Our rights today have been bastardized into allowing for the most base type of garbage to spred their disease on everyone. I don't think I have to outline the litany of aborations that have been spauned by liberal fiat.

You are pointing out that Republicans benefit because gas prices are dropping, so are the citizens. When prices were high, Democrats were benefiting, but the average american suffered. I will be pulling for the little man, even when it hurts the socialists. But those same socialists will be happy when the oil companies profits drop, why is it that someone has to suffer for dems to be successful?

There is much to improve, but it isn't black and white nor is it red or blue. Your governor is destroying your state. Good luck next election.

You guys still think the admin. has nothing to do with oil prices. i still disagree. Finally an intelligent move by the W adm. Force down prices before election and gain in popularity. W gets credit where it is due.
