Gauge questions?

I have a 79 procraft maidencraft with an 85 Johnson GT 150. As of now I have a trim, fuel, speedo, and tach gauge that do not work. Im wanting to get them all goin so any advise would greatly be appreciated. I want to start with the fuel and speedo. I have checked them on the back and with the master switch on they are gettin 12 volts. I do know that my speedo tube is actually cut off and not connected to anything. I am getting a pitot with the tube. Where does the pitot go? Also, how do i check to make sure the gauge itself is working? I read somewhere to ground a certain wire and the gauge would jump to make sure it was good. Also if anyone knows how to check the fuel sender? I have a meter and somewhat of the idea in my head i just need the guidance of someone with the know how! please help Im ready to just start rippin out wires haha

UPDATE:

I tested the fuel sender and it wasnt reading anything... so i grounded it out and the fuel gauge jumped to full... Im assuming the sender is bad in this scenario?

I blowed into the hose comming from the speedo and it jumped on the dash. Where does the hose go to though? on this model where is the pitot found?

I thought that is where it went but wasn't sure. How would you clean out where that goes in... take the lower unit apart?
Ordered the sender its on its way that should have the fuel fixed.

What about the trim? Thats gonna be the one I tackle next. I checked to see on that link if i could see where the spring or lever was located but i couldn't. How do I start checking the trim from the gauge back? I know there is 12v at the gauge but that is as far as I have gotten.
