Gear lube color?

I was helping a buddy winterize is boat this weekend. Upon checking the gearcase oil it was dark green, almost like 2stroke oil? Is the gear lube for OMC's dark green? I'm used to the light translucent tan/brown color. However, it did have that unmistakable gear lube smell, gotta love it.

-andy

Have seen synthetis oils that are green in color. As long as it's not milky white you're OK.

I posted the same question about a month ago...color had me confused as well. I was almost wondering if BRP put the wrong oil in the gear lube bottle.

Glad I wasn't the only one with funny colour oil. Guess this means it was ok.

Cheers,

Brew

Good enough. Thanks guys. By the smell I knew it had to be gear lube.
