you need to disassemble the upper half to see the top seal
but a seal that looks fine could fail a pressure test
a pressure test on an assembled drive is the ONLY way to know for sure that a seal is bad
seeing as how you have the drive pulled apart this far you may as well get manual #14, upper and lower seal kits, replace all seals, then pressure test
