I have a 2008 larson 180, mercruiser sterndrive 190 hp. The boat currently has 22 hours approx on the engine, so techinically its "broken in" I noticed that while checking fluids the gear lube monitor was a little above the add line? When checking before, it was at the full line. Is it normal to have to top off/add gear lube oil? Does anyone else do this? The fluid in the monitor looks dark green with no signs of white streaks or a milky look. Thanks

Co-incidentally, I picked the boat up from the dealer on Friday for the 20 hour check. The drive unit oil and crankcase was "supposed" to have been changed. I find it a little suspicious that the monitor was at the same level (right above) the add line when I dropped it off. I'm thinking dealer didnt change and I got billed for it. I wish I could verify that too?

Re: gear lube level

Well, hopefully he's a reputable dealer. In the future you cold put witness marks on the drain and fill plugs to satisfy your curiosity.
