Re: Gear lube resivoir-potential prob?
To fill the drive, put a level on the anti-cavitation plate and make sure the drive is level. With both the vent and drain plugs removed, fill from the bottom until the gear oil appears at the vent hole. Insert the vent plug as you change bottles, since this will help decrease the amount of oil, which drains back. Once oil is coming out the vent hole (top hole) install the drain plug. With the vent plug removed, go to the reservoir and add lube to the fill line. With the reservoir cap off, wait until the vent drain hole begins to overflow (you now have bleed the reservoir system.) Put the vent plug in and wait a little while until you put the reservoir cap back on.
Use new gaskets on the drain and vent plugs and make sure the little vent hole on the reservoir cap is not plugged. Also, make sure you removed the reservoir and cleaned out all the crap that settles to the bottom before putting new lube in the drive.
After a while, reinstall the reservoir cap and let it sit over night. The next morning, with the reservoir level (easy to tell from the level in the reservoir) fill the reservoir to the full mark.
