gear oil change

i have a 85hp force model#856x4l were in the manual say's to remove the drain plug if you have vent and fill plug's on the top of the ldrive my problem is i need to change the oil and can't get the plug out any suggesting.

If you can't get the plug out because it's head is stripped, dip your screwdriver into some valve grinding compound, and try again...<br />Be sure you are removing the correct plug as the pivot bolt-pin for the shift fork is in the same proximity as the drain plug...

wallleye the screw will turn and gear oil will come out slowly but the screw wont come out.

As I said above, make sure you don't pull the pin-plug for the shift fork, and that sounds like what you've got there.....Force was somehow thinking unclearly when they designed the pivot-pin for the fork, as it's in the same location one would think it to be for the drain plug...check the other side, and make sure.

Bolts are the same side. Look directly below that bolt down in the curved area where the gearcase meets the skeg. There should be a large drain screw exactly like the type of screw you removed for the vent and fill.
