Gear oil change

hi - i have a volvo penta 4.3 with cobra sx drive unit and am about to change the gear oil, the only problem is trying to get the damn drain plug off. Can i suck oil through fill plug and then <br />re-fil

Nope, you have to get the drain plug out. Go to your local automotive store and get an impact screwdriver. They work wonders on those plugs.

Last year I was going to attempt the gear oil change and use my impact screwdriver. Broke the bit on the screwdriver. Let the shop do it. Do the shops have a big bit for that cobra/sx drain screw or is it a special tool?<br /><br />Mark

I purchaced mine from Snapon about 10 years ago and it does just fit the heads on the SX, Merc, and OMC plugs. But 1 guy here had a larger bit from NAPA that he uses all the time.
