well i got the boat out today. It ran like a champ from idel all the way through wot. So all the work i did kepted out the water. If i can do it anyone can woohoo.

Ok anyway i noticed when i got to the ramp the gear oil was down to the fill line on the res bottle. I filled it up yesterday when i got every thing back together. Most of it drained out when i had it off from pulling the engine. i thought about filling it back up but i decided to wait till i got home. Well as i was running around the lake i noticed it was half way back up to the full line at half throttle. and at wot it went up to the full line. Then it would go back down to the fill line at idle. is this normal or is there some thing wrong.

Re: gear oil res moves

Some movement is normal as the oil heats it should expand slightly. Sounds like you probably have an air pocket in the drive.

Did you drain and fill the drive when you were doing the other repairs?

Did you fill the drive from the bottom up to be sure no air would be trapped in the drive?

Re: gear oil res moves

I will have to check that out. to drain the air out all i have to do is pull the vent and open up the cap to the resevoir correct.

No i didn't drain the out drive just put it back on. But the resevoir did go dry from when i took it off the engine and it drained all over the floor in the garage. So when i hooked it back up i just poured more oil in the res and didn't vent it.
