gear oil?

i got a simple question, might be a dumb question but what type of gear oil is used a 1972 johnson 25 hp. is it jus like 90w-80 or special kind, havnt got time to get me a manual yet

Mechanical shift motors use a marine gear oil. It will typically be SAE 80-90W, with marine additives.

Electric shift motors (made by Johnnyrude) use Type C gear oil.

Get the right stuff

Your 25 will use 80W90 or 90W as long as it has the GL-5 rating it is fine.
