gear problem

i have a 1969 40hp johnson electromatic motor ,i changed the gear oil for the first time (i got the boat last year)and found the oil was like mud,and there was water..?took the boat out and it would not go into gear,it did go into a vary low speed,but once i gave it some more gas it did nothing,took it back home just changed the oil again ,now its sort of a bage brown colour,,help please!! pics here home.cogeco.ca/~downloadjunky wont go into gear now.. the wiring is all new so not a problem there.

You're getting water in the gearcase. Did you replace the fill/drain plug seals?

Also, that engine requires a special gear lube called "Premium Blend".

Yes both seals are ok and i did use the right oil..

Ah take cover. Another famous Electromatic "No" shift problem. The only thing I can sugest is take your lower unit off check of signs of water coming in and replace ur oil once again and maybe your water pump while your there. Also make sure to check all your wiring i know white electric monster some times dosnt shift because it has shady wiring.

ok looks like i going to take it apart ,any sugestions on making something to hold the motor (like a work horse)and any tips on taking this apart..any help would be apercieated..
