How do I find out what gear ratio I have? It is on a 79 pre alpha with a 305. Also where can I find the prop slip? It is on the prop, right? Thanks,

Re: gear ratio

You have a V8, So you Should have a 1.50/1 Ratio.......
Your Prop Should have the #s on the End of the hub, under the nut + lockwasher, Or stamped into the side of the prop, at the base of the blades....

Re: gear ratio

Prop Slip is calulated with the Actual boat speed, Vs, The Calulated boat speed....
Your Prop Pitch is 19"......

48-88440A- ... is the Part#s

Re: gear ratio

19" times rpm, divided 12", times 60 minutes, divided 5280' = mph. differenc between this and measured mph is slippage.
