Hi ive bought a 60hp Johnson 60TLCNM
I got it relatively cheap, it was from a mechanic who said it had a gremlin in the engine. I think ive got rid of that gremlin after an extensive fault searching and rectifying but after a test ride where the motor now goes grand i noticed the gearoil is watery.
Ive changed the two top seals below the water pump, the thick o-ring in the shiftshaft casing and the gasket below it but it was still watery after the latest outing.
Ive removed the prop and noticed this fishing line around the propshaft. Its not my fishing line as i havent trusted it enough to get me out to the blue yonder for fishing yet.
What im wondering is can i remove this seal and replace it without needing to pull the carrier.
The inadequate manual of mine says removing the carrier requires split ring pliers, fast moving objects, danger and safety goggles so if i dont have to i dont want too!
