Short term get a black sharpie and color it in, it will be far less noticeable.
The problem with black is it will stick out like a sore thumb once you do anything to that spot. The normal method if it was too deep to just sand out would be to clean out the scratch, sand out a few inches with 220 grit, use a tooth pick or very small artists brush to fill the groove with gel coat, then spray over it. Once cured, sand and buff. What you will probably find is that the hull has discolored and the new black doesn't match, and after buffing even the original gel coat won't match the surrounding area, so you end up buffing the entire hull to see if you can get it to blend in, the actual repair still won't match though. Sometimes people just live with the sharpie repair or fingernail polish. The sharpie or fingernail polish can easily be removed at anytime in the future when you decide how you want to proceed
