Gel Coat

Hello,
I have a 1989 fiberglass 18 foot EbbTide v bottom. On the bottom on the boat from the bow to about the center the gel coat is been rubbed away by the trailer. Does this need to be repaired? Will it still be water tight in its current condition? If I need to repair it, how is it done? Any help would be great.

A few pictures would help us give you an answer. I have seen one persons opinion of a small rub as there was a hole almost through the bottom of the boat. If the gelcoat is rubbed through I would fix it before letting her spend time in the water. I assume there is no bottom paint going over the gelcoat?
